So although an electronic cutter might sound good and easy, manual die cutting machines are still preferred and have a large place in today’s scrapbook die cutting machine market due to the love of the hands on creative process.

This technique involves folding the paper, and then cutting it into a single design with the sections still attached at the folds. Once the paper is unfolded, it reveals repeated motifs that will be joined together. This is the technique we used to use as children when we would cut out paper chains of people holding hands. Variations of this technique has been used to make many wonderful designs and backgrounds for scrapbooking projects.

I have found that finding die cuts at craft stores is getting harder and harder, if not impossible. I asked an employee once and was told that “the personal diecut machine has taken over that market.” I do own one but, nothing can take the place of a cute illustrated die cut and they are so much FASTER to use!
